Flexible OLED displays are considered to be the best option for next-generation smartphones, and new smartphone products equipped with flexible OLED displays are often praised for their superior display performance. Flexible OLED displays can provide excellent image quality with very high contrast ratios, wider color gamuts, faster refresh rates, and wide viewing angles. OLED displays are composed of multiple layers of polymer materials, including polyimide, polyethylene terephthalate (PET), and cyclic olefin polymer (COP), etc., which have high processing requirements. For these polymer materials that are prone to thermal effects, UV picosecond lasers with ultra-short pulse width and UV wavelength can well meet the processing requirements of OLED materials and help improve production quality. In order to give everyone a better understanding of the processing characteristics of UV picosecond lasers, Spectra-Physics, a subsidiary of MKS that has been working in the field of lasers for nearly 60 years, will hold an OFweek online seminar from 15:00-16:00 on March 18, 2020. We will share relevant technologies, show the experimental results of industrial UV picosecond laser light sources processing various polymer materials, and discuss the effects of adjusting the combination of pulse energy and pulse frequency in the context of optimizing processing speed and quality.
